The 2022 Madaraka Festival has concluded and was a great success! This year was the largest Madaraka Festival in eight years. Over 7,000 festival attendees were reported by the Friends of the Waterfront for August 13 & 14. Over 1,800 attendees attended the pre-event at the SAM Sculpture Park. Over 30 black-owned small business vendors.
African Father In America podcast has become a staple for many people. The podcast is a sacred space that has attracted over 100,000 downloads on all podcasting platforms. The host, Simon Javan Okelo, promotes all his endeavors with One Vibe Media, and other initiatives in Africa and the diaspora. Guests are also able to promote their books, businesses, and initiatives on the show while still centering the power of African wisdom.
OVM builds capacity for Mission Africa by developing and implementing its social media, email marketing, and fundraising strategy. OVM hopes to use the requested funds to continue building Mission Africa’s capacity to ensure families in Washington State are empowered through education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation programs.
Ignited Phoenix Project
Ignited Phoenix Project is a “community-driven Environmental and Social Justice program based in the Duwamish Valley. OVM produced a documentary to showcase the work of Ignited Phoenix Project. We hope to use the requested funds to host screenings of the documentary across Seattle to expand the reach, message, and growth of the organization.
